Design Your Own Applique

4 hr class - November 17, 2026, 1-5 pm

Appliqué is one of the most relaxing, creative, and fun techniques to add to your quilting toolbox! In this class, Tia will teach you how to design your own appliqué quilt blocks while exploring a variety of techniques for bringing your designs to life.

You’ll learn how to make templates, fussy-cut fabrics, create bias stems, layer appliqué pieces for dimension, make berries, thread-baste and glue-baste, use fusible templates, and master needle-turn appliqué. Tia will guide you through each technique while encouraging you to experiment and develop your own unique designs.

Want to focus on learning the techniques rather than designing a block from scratch? No problem! Tia will provide the templates needed to create the featured block shown above, giving you a chance to practice in class and then take your new skills home to create your own designs.

Almost any shape can be appliquéd, and even a small touch of appliqué can elevate an entire quilt. Spend the day with Tia and discover why she loves this versatile and beautiful art form—and why you will, too!
