Vintage Linen Tote Bag

4 hr class - April 20, 2027, 1-5 pm

Michelle Elrod has a passion for upcycling vintage linens so they can make today more beautiful—and useful. Bring your own vintage linens to the workshop, and Michelle will help guide you to creating a stunning one-of-a-kind tote bag that will connect you to the past while taking you into the future.

Supply List (PRINTABLE PDF SUPPLY LIST)

  • Pre-washed vintage linen pieces such as pillow case, dresser scarf, handkerchiefs, doilies, lace, etc. Bring several possibilities to pick from.

  • Fabric for Outside of bag and handles 1 yd 

  • Lining Fabric3/4 yd

  • Inside patch pocket (optional) 16” x 18”

  • Shape Flex 101 (fusible interfacing) 1 yd

  • (2) batting strips (for handles) 2” x 30 “

  • (2) pieces of batting/fusible fleece or Soft & Stable 18” x 18”

  • (1) sew in purse magnet set or button for closure (optional)

  • (1) hair elastic if using button closure

  • Thread to match fabrics

  • Sewing machine with usual sewing notions

  • Mechanical walking foot
